Barnsley Bridge Club

3rd Match . Our team continued it's 100% winning start to the season with a hard fought 12 - 8 victory away at Keighley yesterday. After the usual quite stressful journey there we started slowly and trailed 37 Imps to 32 Imps after the first 8 board stanza. Boards 9 - 16 saw us score 21 Imps to Keighley's 15 Imps meaning we led by just 1 IMP at the half time interval. Stanza 3 boards 17 - 24 was quite eventful seeing individual scores of 1700 and 1400 being registered - one for each team - and at the end of that Keighley shaded it by 28 Imps to 27 Imps to make the match all square at 80 all going into the final stanza. Boards 25 - 32 saw the majority of the points in the hands of East/West with virtually all the contracts being played that way and, thanks to good play by EW and great defence by NS, we won that stanza by 26 Imps to 11 Imps to run out winners by 106 to 91. Despite our 3 consecutive victories we only currently sit 3rd in division 4 as league positions are based on average points gained per game and some teams have only played 1 game so far. Our next game is on Sunday 20 November at home to Wensleydale who are currently top of the division and also unbeaten.

Welcome to Barnsley Bridge Club

The club meets regularly at the Sports Village at Honeywell Within Barnsley College, Honeywell Lane, Barnsley, S75 1BP

Bridge sessions will normally be held on the following days at the following times:

Monday 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Wednesday 6:30pm to 9:30pm

New members are always welcome, and we pride ourselves on being 'beginner friendly'.

We aim to play 21 - 27 boards on Monday afternoons starting at 1pm prompt and aiming to finish around 4pm.

Single players are always welcome on Mondays and all members are expected to be respectful of less experienced players.

We aim to play 24 - 28 boards on a Wednesday evening, starting at 6:30pm prompt and aiming to finish around 9:30pm.

You must, however, arrive with a playing partner to take part in the Wednesday evening sessions.

All players are asked to be seated and ready to play 10 minutes prior to the start of each session to assist the scorer.

Please note that Barnsley Bridge Club operates a 'Members Only' policy for Simultaneous Pairs events.

Team Games on Fridays

Although we have now returned to Face to Face bridge, an online session is still available each Friday at 7pm. Teams of four, selected randomly, face each other in a head to head contest. Many of our members regularly take part in these sessions and enjoy the competition. Deadline for entry Thursday 10am. Friday Friends is still available if you wish to play in a full duplicate online competition.
